ENDER’S GAME FEATURETTE (Video) – As Ender’s Game hits theaters, ScreenSlam launches its featurette, which includes interviews with stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, and Harrison Ford. Based on the 1985 novel by Orson Scott Card, the sci-fi film takes place in a future where the existence of the human race is threatened by an alien species known as the “Formics” who are determined to destroy the Earth. A select group of humans band together to create the International Military that protects and defends humanity from the alien scum. In hopes to win the battle against the aliens, the International Military recruits a brilliant young boy, Ender Wiggin (Butterfield) to join their battle school and lead their army against the enemy. Ender will have to leave his family behind and become an empathetic killer to defend the human race from annihilation.
Ender’s Game is directed by Gavin Hood and also stars Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin, Jimmy Pinchak, Connor Carroll, Cameron Gaskins, Caleb J. Thaggard, Brandon Soo Hoo, and Andrea Powell.
“[Ender] is probably one of the most complex characters I’ve played and having the book there is always an invaluable resource. As an actor, all of that information you take and put in the role.” – Asa Butterfield
“They went to boot camp for five weeks. They move like one creature, and it’s quite wonderful for me to walk onto the set, issue a very simple order, and have it carried out in a microsecond in unison.” – Ben Kingsley
“Ender Wiggen is a character that kind of represents humanity in the way that we are capable of great kindness as a species and we’re capable of terrible destruction. And this is all in the body of a 12-year-old…Asa Butterfield does a phenomenal job of representing that range of human emotion…” – Gavin Hood
PLOT: 70 years after a horrific alien war, an unusually gifted child is sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for a future invasion.
