ENDER’S GAME RED CARPET INTERVIEWS (Videos) – ScreenSlam traveled to a galaxy not so far, far away in a time pretty close to the present to get some exclusive interviews from the cast of the new movie, Ender’s Game, directed by Gavin Hood. The premiere was hosted by the Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. Despite the rain, the stars were smiling from ear to ear as they made their way down the carpet and were even more excited to tell ScreenSlam about their characters and the making of the film.
Based on the 1985 novel by Orson Scott Card, the sci-fi film takes place in a future where the existence of the human race is threatened by an alien species known as the “Formics” who are determined to destroy the Earth. A select group of humans band together to create the International Military that protects and defends humanity from the alien scum. In hopes to win the battle against the aliens, the International Military recruits a brilliant young boy, Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) to join their battle school and lead their army against the enemy. Ender will have to leave his family behind and become an empathetic killer to defend the human race from annihilation.
Ender’s Game also stars Ben Kingsley, Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Jimmy Pinchak, Connor Carroll, Cameron Gaskins, Caleb J. Thaggard, Brandon Soo Hoo, and Andrea Powell.
“[Asa Butterfield] is such a generous actor, and he’s so pure. The best thing to do with Asa is to react to his acting. You see the character there, you see he’s worked on it, he presents something wonderful to the film set, and all you do is pay attention to it and react.” – Ben Kingsley
“What I loved was the way that Gavin Hood, the writer/director, told the story and made it incredibly real. The way he directed the actors to be very human, very connected, and very real in a surreal situation.” – Andrea Powell
PLOT: 70 years after a horrific alien war, an unusually gifted child is sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for a future invasion.
